Welcome

A vet clinic exclusively for cats

At the Cat Vet in Prahran (Melbourne), all the staff have an absolute love and compassion for cats and their well being. We aim to provide optimal health care for our feline patients, providing a quiet and cat friendly environment. The Clinic is designed specifically to their unique requirements and with cat behaviour in mind (being dog-free is particularly cat friendly).

We have a modern, fully equipped  Vet hospital providing for routine health care such as vaccinations, through to managing complex Referral & Specialist medical problems. Our hospital is equipped with full dental & surgical facilities as well as in-house laboratory, diagnostic ultrasound, endoscopy and radiology capabilities. The clinic consults closely with specialists in all other aspects of medicine and surgery so as to offer optimum health care recommendations for our feline patients.

Richard and Amy have worked in cat only veterinary practice almost their entire careers. They met whilst working at Australia’s largest cat hospital in Brisbane, the Creek Road Cat Hospital. Richard moved to Melbourne to start their own clinic in 2005, whilst Amy undertook a 3 year residency training program at the University of Sydney Cat Hospital. She moved back to The Cat Clinic after completing her training residency in Feline Medicine.

Amy has recently become Australia's newest Registered Specialist in Feline Medicine, after she passed her Fellowship board examinations. She is the only Feline Specialist currently practising in Victoria. She accepts referrals from all around Melbourne and Victoria, but also loves the challenges & rewards of general practice.

The medication we looked at has helped countless patients enjoy a more comfortable life when suffering from chronic aches and creaky joints. The hope is this publication and further studies continuing from this data will promote awareness of arthritis in cats and give clinicians more guidence in prescribing medications of this sort to older cats.
